Steel planters with overhead trellis designed by Jess Haskins
Small aquaponics system designed, built, maintained and ultimately deconstructed by us because teeny tiny aquaponics systems need CONSTANT maintenance. If you want to get into aquaponics, I recommend the largest tank you can manage in whatever space you have. A larger reservoir means smaller, less dramatic fluctuations in the balance of various elements that keep your plants and fish alive. My goldfish were often thriving, but my plants just wouldn’t take off. It was nice to have a key to this client’s business to let myself in for the frequent maintenance visits, but it would’ve been nicer to explore in my own space for no commute and more frequent attention.
About a year or two into trying to make this system work, with the goal of LUSH herbs for this gym’s teaching kitchen, I deconstructed this 25-gallon system and cancelled and fully refunded another, 90-gallon custom aquaponics system installation project because I lost faith in the ease of maintenance.
